IF YOU LOVE MUSIC THEN WE LOVE TO TEACH

At the Leonie Khoury School of Music we take learning seriously. Music is a skill and to play properly and with artistry can take years of study and practice. Our music teachers are highly qualified and experienced, understanding the needs of each student, whether learning for pleasure as an adult or learning to pass AMEB exams or VCE exams and performances, we can help you.



We also hold school concerts which are held twice yearly for student performance practice. These concerts are open to family and friends and provide an important opportunity for students to showcase their efforts. As part of the training program of the school, students are expected to prepare for and attend these concerts.

Located in Eden Street, Footscray - just off Sumerhill Road which leads to Highpoint and close to bus stops running along Essex Street.

We offer individual lessons in:
Piano, Violin, Flute, Saxophone and Clarinet
Violins are also available for purchase, please call for details. Piano lessons are given on a new Bernstein H Series upright piano to accommodate the needs of advanced students as well as beginners.


Lessons are given Monday to Friday at after school hours and some times are available for students who want lessons during the day. Limited places only are available on Saturdays.

Garry Kuan, Violin Teacher

Garry is our newest teacher at the school. He has been teaching since 2001 when he graduated from the London College of Music and Media at the Thames Valley University in England.


He plays regularly with the Melbourne Symphonic Orchestra and he has played with various orchestras in Malaysia. Garry also speaks several languages; Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Malay and some Japanese as well. Garry teaches students of all ages from 7 to 85 years of age. He is a dedicated teacher and achieves the best results for his students. Lessons are fully absorbing and rewarding for students who are keen to learn and open to the journey of discovering and harnessing their skills.

Lessons are based on half hour, private lessons.

Term fees are payable in advance prior to the commencement of lessons. Only the full term fee is accepted. If starting for the first time at the school you are able to pay for the remaining weeks in the term when you begin mid-term.

Lessons are held weekly throughout the term and students are expected to attend all lessons as there are no refunds on missed lessons. Please note that we do not guarantee to make up any missed lessons by the student in the term. However, we will do our best when possible to provide a make up lesson, depending on the teacher's availability. Lessons and teachers may need to change from time to time - the school reserves the right to make these changes when necessary.

The school located in Footscray lies within reasonable acces to the surrounding suburbs of  West Melbourne such as; Maribyrnong, Seddon, Yarraville, Spotswood, Newport, Williamstown, Maidstone, Braybrook, Sunshine, Altona, Kensington and Flemington.

Stella Svetec - Piano



Stella Svetec our Piano Teacher trained in Prague and holds a Bachelor of Music from the Prague University in Piano Performance.

She performs regularly around Melbourne and is a regular pianist with The Four Voicess, a sought-after performance group that performs around Australia.
Stella teaches all levels of Piano from beginner to those applying for Piano Teacher Diplomas and Performance Degrees. Her students range in age from 5 to 80! She has a great rapport with her students and is able to provide not only the skills in playing but also the encouragement and support needed to help students through their learning process and exams, a vital component in learning and educating.
Stella is a valued Teacher at the school and she also accompanies the instrumental students in their exams.


Lucas Dubinski - Piano 




Lucas has been playing Piano for more that 20 years. He is a passionate player and teacher and he acheived Honours in his 8th Grade AMEB piano exam amongst other music awards at high school and tertiary level. Lucas also plays violin and holds his 8th Grade AMEB level in this instrument as well. 


With his attention to detail and passion for piano playing Lucas is able to instill confidence in his students and a love of playing. His warm and friendly manner supports his students in passing the challenges that arise in the learning process. He has a fine understanding of the technical demands of the piano and is able to encourage students in finding effective ways of overcoming these. His support and respectful manner is much appreciated by students and parents. 


Lucas is comfortable teaching students of any age, helping them to unlock their potential and develop their technical expertise and self-expression.


He is currently embarking on his musical career in audio engineering at the SAE Institute in Melbourne.
