At the Leonie Khoury School of Music we take learning seriously. Music is a skill and to play properly and with artistry can take years of study and practice. Our music teachers are highly qualified and experienced, understanding the needs of each student, whether learning for pleasure as an adult or learning to pass AMEB exams or VCE exams and performances, we can help you. We specialise in preparing students for music exams and scholarships as well as for adults who want to learn for pleasure.

We sell excellent quality new instruments for beginner level, intermediate players, advanced and professional players. Please call for further enquiries.

Located in Eden Street, Footscray - just off Sumerhill Road which leads to Highpoint and close to bus stops running along Essex Street.

Piano lessons are given on a Yamaha U3 upright to cater for all level of students from beginners to advanced including the AMEB Certificate of Performance level.


Lessons are given Monday to Friday at after school hours and some times are available for students who want lessons during the day. Limited places only are available on Saturdays.

Isabel Tzorbatzaki
Violin 


Isabel has successfully completed a Bachelor of Music Degree with Honours at Melbourne University.Growing up in Sydney she had violin lessons for many years with Goetz Richter and Wanda Wilkominska. She graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School before moving to Melbourne to complete her tertiary studies.
Isabel has been active in many performing music ensembles, she continues as an active player in the Melbourne Youth Orchestra.

Heidi Brockman
Violin, Cello 

Heidi Brockman was born into a musical family in Brisbane in 1982.At the age of two she began to show an interest in playing the violin, and took lessons from her Aunt. Her family moved to Hong Kong in 1989, where Heidi commenced studies at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. When Heidi was nine, she began taking ’cello lessons with Ron Wilson of the Hong Kong Philharmonic orchestra. At the Academy, along with private ’cello lessons, Heidi participated in orchestral classes and performances and took music theory classes. She also joined the Hong Kong Singers and enjoyed taking part in several choral performances.
When Heidi was twelve, she was offered a music scholarship on ’cello to Geelong Grammar School, where she learned from Michelle Raynor. In her second year there she was chosen as head of music for Connewarre House. Heidi also sang in the school choir and played in several chamber music groups.
In 1996 Heidi accepted a place at the Sydney Conservatorium High School to study under Georg Pedersen. During her years at that school Heidi’s musical abilities flourished, and she participated in many choral and orchestral performances.
When she was seventeen Heidi began taking an interest in Jazz, and she commenced Jazz singing lessons with Joy Yates. In 2001 she was accepted by audition to the Sydney Conservatorium Jazz course where she had the privilege of taking private lessons from Judy Bailey and Craig Scott.
Heidi has diverse interests and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Melbourne, majoring in literature.

    Term fees are payable in advance prior to the commencement of lessons. Only the full term fee is accepted. If starting for the first time at the school you are able to pay for the remaining weeks in the term when you begin mid-term. Price per lesson is $35

    Lessons are held weekly throughout the term and students are expected to attend all lessons as there are no refunds on missed lessons. Please note that we do not guarantee to make up any missed lessons by the student in the term. However, we will do our best when possible to provide a make up lesson, depending on the teacher's availability. Lessons and teachers may need to change from time to time - the school reserves the right to make these changes when necessary.

    The school located in Footscray lies within reasonable access to the surrounding suburbs of  West Melbourne such as; Maribyrnong, Seddon, Yarraville, Spotswood, Newport, Williamstown, Maidstone, Braybrook, Sunshine, Altona, Kensington and Flemington.

    Stella Svetec - Piano



    Stella Svetec our Piano Teacher trained in Prague and holds a Bachelor of Music from the Prague University in Piano Performance.

    She performs regularly around Melbourne and is a regular pianist with The Four Voicess, a sought-after performance group that performs around Australia.
    Stella teaches all levels of Piano from beginner to those applying for Piano Teacher Diplomas and Performance Degrees. Her students range in age from 5 to 80! She has a great rapport with her students and is able to provide not only the skills in playing but also the encouragement and support needed to help students through their learning process and exams, a vital component in learning and educating.
    Stella is a valued Teacher at the school and she also accompanies the instrumental students in their exams.


    Lucas Dubinski - Piano 




    Lucas has been playing Piano for more that 20 years. He is a passionate player and teacher and he acheived Honours in his 8th Grade AMEB piano exam amongst other music awards at high school and tertiary level. Lucas also plays violin and holds his 8th Grade AMEB level in this instrument as well. 


    With his attention to detail and passion for piano playing Lucas is able to instill confidence in his students and a love of playing. His warm and friendly manner supports his students in passing the challenges that arise in the learning process. He has a fine understanding of the technical demands of the piano and is able to encourage students in finding effective ways of overcoming these. His support and respectful manner is much appreciated by students and parents. 


    Lucas is comfortable teaching students of any age, helping them to unlock their potential and develop their technical expertise and self-expression.

    He is currently embarking on his musical career in audio engineering at the SAE Institute in Melbourne.


    Leonie Khoury - Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone

    Leonie has been teaching woodwind students for over 30 years to all ages of students. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has performed over the years in various orchestras and music ensembles.

    Leonie's students usually all sit for the AMEB exams in the categories of Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone, and her students obtain high results in their grades. She also teaches woodwind at Flemington Primary School and at Mount Alexander College in Kensington.

    Leonie also enjoys teaching adult students who are keen to take up a woodwind instrument. She has had many faithful students who have enjoyed her teaching approach, and her way of refining their technique and firing their enthusiasm.
